Hershey and the Great Depression
The Great Depression
The Great Depression lasted from 1929-1936 and was a brutal time for America. But Milton was determined to not let his precious Hershey, Pennsylvania go down the drain. To fight the effects of the Great Depression, he hired people instead of firing them. He increased the working conditions and built more homes for people. All his hard work paid off, because Hershey was virtually unhurt from the economy crash. This is the way he reacted to the Great Depression.
